The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Kenya is a statutory body established under the Gambling Control Act, 2025 to regulate, supervise, and control all forms of gambling within the Republic of Kenya.
As provided in the Act, our mandate is grounded in the law “to provide for the regulation of betting, casinos and other forms of gambling… and for the establishment of the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Kenya.”
We are responsible for licensing and overseeing all gambling activities, including betting, casinos, lotteries, online gambling platforms, and related services. The Authority ensures that all operators comply with the legal, technical, and ethical standards prescribed under the Act.
The Gambling Control Act, 2025 represents a modern and comprehensive framework designed to strengthen regulatory oversight, enhance consumer protection, and promote responsible gambling practices while supporting a transparent and sustainable gaming industry.

The Act provides for the control and licensing of Betting and Gaming premises and the activities carried therein; for the imposition and recovery of taxes, for the authorization of lotteries and prize competition as well as eradication of illegal gambling.
